Dr. Isaiah Nengean was installed as Pastor of Outreach at an evening service on February 18, 2024.

He writes: “It is a great honor to serve Jesus Christ, my Lord and Savior. Out of his abundant love and mercy, Christ extended his saving grace to me; I confessed Christ as a child. For I was born and raised by covenant parents who similarly witnessed the grace of God, thereby abandoned their traditional gods, and accepted the Triune God. Previously, I served congregations in Des Moines, Iowa, and Ijamsville, Maryland.

Throughout my journey of faith, from elementary to high school and college, the Lord always provided mentors as well as church and Christian communities that nurtured my spiritual life. It is in this context that I sensed the Lord’s call to the ministry of Word and Sacrament, which led to the Reformed Theological Seminary in Nigeria, Calvin Theological Seminary in Grand Rapids, Michigan, and Westminster Seminary Philadelphia for doctoral studies in systematic theology.

I am husband to my wife Salome and father to our two beloved children whom I have named after my parents — Micah Moses and Rebekah Grace! We enjoy spending time together reading, walking, biking, and running. Finally, it gives me tremendous joy to serve Fourth Presbyterian Church as the Pastor of Outreach as we seek to extend the love of Christ to our neighbors and to proclaim the Lordship of the Triune God around the world!”
