Jules is a native of Brooklyn, New York, with family roots going back in all directions to Ireland, Cuba, Spain, France, the Netherlands, Germany, Scotland, and England, by way of Mississippi and Texas, but raised in a Jewish-Irish atheist household in NYC. He studied political science at New York University (B.A., 1990), and then worked for several years in the technology industry in the D.C. area. During this period, he came to faith in Christ, and was baptized as an adult at Fourth Church. Jules and his wife, Virginia, served here in various capacities – Virginia as Director of Media Services, and Jules as a pastoral intern and network administrator.
After a few years, Jules realized that God was calling him to the pastoral ministry, and he left to pursue theological studies at Reformed Theological Seminary in Orlando. Upon completion of his M.Div., he returned home to Fourth, where he served from 2002-2005 as Pastor of Adult Education.
In 2005, he was called to be Pastor of Faith Presbyterian Church, a PCA congregation in the Levittown area, just north of Philadelphia, where he served for 18 years. Then, in October 2023, he was called once again to Fourth Church, where he is now serving as Pastor of Teaching and Adult Discipleship.
Jules, Virginia, and their son, Guy, enjoy biking, hiking, reading, music, and feasting with family and friends, and are thrilled to be living and serving at Fourth. They look forward to fellowship with God’s people here at this church in the years ahead.
