This class, taught by Rev. Jules Grisham and Dr. Scott Redd, meets in the Upper Room. Of the 1,005 songs Solomon composed, the Song of Songs is the greatest of them all. In this 7-week class, we will work through this book, with all its vivid technicolor sight and scents and sounds of nature in bloom, calling to mind the Garden of Eden and presenting a picture of paradise regained in the context of marital love, and will come gradually to see the whole of it as an analogy – a sort of peering into the holy fire of the Holy of Holies – of Christ’s love for his bride, the church. Join us for this meditation on holy love and redeemed desire, “the very flame of the LORD,” which the only answer in this fallen world to the world-weary wisdom of Ecclesiastes. A lecture follows small group discussions around tables based on home study questions. If you are new to the Scripture Study class, please register at the table in the back of the Upper Room. No registration is required. Email Jules Grisham at jgrisham@4thpres.org for more information.
