Job Title: Connections Coordinator

Status: Full Time | Exempt | 37.5 hours per week
Reports to: Director of Communications

Summary 

The Connections Coordinator works to foster and sustain a culture of connection, participation, and service at Fourth Presbyterian Church. This role champions and implements strategies to help newcomers, attenders, and members experience belonging, spiritual growth, and meaningful service in the church. The Coordinator also manages the social media content calendar, creating content and campaigns that align with Fourth’s beliefs, values, and current initiatives in the life of the church.

Key Responsibilities

Connections (75%)

  • Align staff and volunteers to warmly welcome guests and guide them into church life, worship, fellowship, and service.
  • Champion a welcoming, guest-focused culture.
  • Be present on Sunday mornings, especially at the Information Center, greeting guests and supporting and coordinating volunteers.
  • Develop and maintain follow-up and “next steps” processes for visitors and attenders.
  • Identify and promote volunteer opportunities, helping members and attenders engage in service and witness inside and outside the church.
  • Work to connect guests to Community Groups, Bible studies, Sunday School classes, service opportunities, and resources.
  • Serve as primary contact for the Information Center and coordinate its volunteers.
  • Keep Information Center flyers and materials up to date and accurate. Order guest books and other materials as needed.
  • Partner with the Database team to improve processes for capturing, tracking, and reporting visitor/member information.
  • Prepare reports on visitor follow-up and engagement for a weekly check-in meeting.
  • Plan and lead quarterly newcomer receptions.
  • Closely track each new members class and follow up with new members to launch them into life and service in the church.
  • Lead orientation and training for staff and volunteers as strategies and processes evolve.
  • Liaise with other churches to share and implement best practices.

Social Media (25%)

  • Create and manage a weekly social media content calendar; source, create, and post content on schedule.
  • Collaborate on social media strategy and refine it over time.
  • Monitor channels to foster positive interaction and maintain an active, responsive presence.
  • Oversee Fourth’s presence on platforms including Google Business, LinkedIn, and YouTube.
  • Produce semi-annual social media analytics reports with occasional reports on demand.
  • Collaborate with fellow Communications team staff to shape content for webpages, automated email workflows, printed materials, and other vehicles which support visitor and member engagement.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field

  • Strong problem-solving and critical thinking abilities
  • Initiative and attention to detail
  • Wisdom, discernment, and a collaborative spirit
  • Proficiency with Google Workspace, Basecamp, Ministry Platform, Canva, Planable, and Keynote
