Frequently Asked Questions
What are your Sunday services like?
Our morning and evening services might look slightly different but contain the same elements: a call to worship, the singing of hymns, the receiving of an offering, reading of Scripture, a celebration of the sacraments (baptism and Lord’s Supper), preaching of God’s word, and giving of benediction. Click HERE for access to our bulletins.
Fourth has expositional (verse by verse) sermon series walking through a particular book of the Bible. If you want to hear what a typical sermon is like, click HERE to listen to recent sermons.
What will happen when I visit for the first time?
We’d love to connect with you and answer any questions you may have. Please introduce yourself to an usher or pastor so we can get to know you and tell you about our various ministries. After the service, make your way over to our Welcome Center (located at the rear of the sanctuary and down a short flight of stairs) to learn our history and meet members of our church. We’d also love to have you join us for coffee in our fellowship hall directly off the sanctuary between and after services.
Do you have activities for my children?
We desire families to worship together and believe that children belong in the sanctuary, so please bring them. We offer Sunday School during all worship services and our trained child care workers are ready to welcome your children. Based on age or year in school, your children will be placed in the nursery or assigned to an appropriate Sunday school class. You can complete KidCheck to speed up the first-time check-in process by completing the online account HERE. More information is located at our Children’s Welcome Center.
How do you accommodate children with special needs?
If you have a child with special needs, we want you to know that we take very seriously what he or she experiences on a Sunday morning. We have rooms designed specifically for children with various special needs and have a caring team of Special Needs Buddies to give them a great experience while you are here.
How do I get to Fourth?
Our address and directions are available HERE. We have reserved visitor spaces close to the sanctuary. To locate these spaces, enter the upper parking lot (from River Road: turn on Springfield Road and make an immediate left onto Ridgefield Road; the upper lot entrance will be on your left). If you do not park in the visitor spaces, you can park in the general parking area or use the off-site parking lot. More information can be found HERE.
New Visitor Welcome Lunch
Our Church & Family Life Committee periodically invites our recent first-time visitors to a welcome luncheon in the Upper Room. The gatherings provide recent visitors opportunity for personal contact with members of the church and family life committee and pastors; for conversation, introduction to membership steps, ministry opportunities, information, and warm fellowship time. Our next luncheon will be September 17, 2017. If you are a recent first-time visitor and would like to come to this informative luncheon, please contact Charlotte Fitzgerald. Lunch begins at 12:15 pm in the Upper Room. Please RSVP by September 10, 2017.
Welcome and Information Center
The Welcome and Information Center (WIC) is located in Halverson Hall across from the church office and provides a warm and inviting atmosphere. There you will find a wealth of information including directions, brochures, and answers to questions for both visitors and members. The Welcome and Information Center contains information on Fourth’s history, congregational opportunities, member directory photos and updates, our worldwide mission outreach and projection of the morning worship service. If you are a first time visitor and stop in to see us, just provide us with your contact information to receive a small “welcome gift” and a warm invitation to our quarterly welcome luncheons.
