“And day by day, attending the temple together and breaking bread in their homes, they received their food with glad and generous hearts, praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to their number day by day those who were being saved.” — Acts 2:46–47

Membership

The moment that someone places his or her trust in the Lord Jesus Christ, they not only enjoy the blessing of union with Christ but also become a member of his body, the church (Romans 12:4-5; 1 Corinthians 12:12-27; Ephesians 3:6). To be a member of Fourth Presbyterian Church is to affirm your faith in Christ and to commit yourself to this local body of Christian believers.

We are blessed to have many visitors on any given Sunday at Fourth Presbyterian Church. If you are a visitor, we want to warmly welcome you and let you know how delighted we are to have you joining us in worshiping God.

New Members Class

Fall dates TBD

Learn about our beliefs, history, vision, and mission and prayerfully consider joining this local church body. Taught by Fourth pastors, the New Members Class meets for six consecutive Sundays in Room 130,  9:30–10:30 a.m. Read more about the class below.

New Members Class

Whether you're new to Fourth or have been attending for some time, the New Members Class is a great place to learn more about our church. You'll hear teaching from the Bible about what we believe and how our theological convictions shape our life together.

When class concludes, you'll have the opportunity to become a church member by affirming your saving faith in Jesus Christ and pledging the membership vows recorded in our book of church order. We provide the class as means for you to prayerfully consider whether this church at this time is where the Lord is calling you to meaningfully belong.

Baptism

In the New Covenant, Christ instituted two sacraments in his church, baptism and the Lord’s Supper. Baptism signifies our union with Christ and participation in all of his saving work. It also shows forth our membership in the covenant community of God’s people. The Lord Jesus gave the sign of baptism to all who profess faith in him and to their children (Genesis 17:7-8; 1 Peter 3:21).

If you have recently come to saving faith or have not been baptized, or if you desire to have your child baptized, please contact Sallie Holdrich. She will assist you in scheduling a time to meet with Dr. Todd Smedley, our Senior Pastor, to talk together about baptism.
