Taught by Dirk Rankin and others in Room 131. The Westminster Confession of Faith (first edition published 1646) remains a confessional standard of Presbyterian churches worldwide, and reflects the high point of the Protestant Reformation. The Confession is a definitive summary of the Christian faith rightly understood as containing the system of doctrine taught in the Holy Scriptures. The class will endeavor to address the Westminster Confession in both the retrospective context, i.e., looking back to the start of the Reformation itself concerning the (recovered) doctrines of grace, and the current context regarding how the gospel is understood in modern society.
