MINISTRY ANNOUNCEMENTS

Adult Education

Sunday School | Fall semester classes conclude this Sunday, December 6. See the Adult Sunday School webpage to find out about spring semester classes beginning January 10. Newcomers are welcome at any time.

Teaching on Tuesdays, “Jesus Answers Job” | Taught by Fourth Pastors, Tuesdays, January-March, 2021, 7:00-7:45 p.m., online. Join us via Zoom, as we examine the great questions asked by Job that were answered by the Lord Jesus Christ. More information to come.

Children’s Ministry

Children’s Sunday School | Online lessons are available and sent via email weekly. 

Children’s Church | Sundays, during the 9:30 a.m., service. Children age 4 through 3rd grade will be dismissed before the sermon and will be accompanied by their teachers to their classrooms, then escorted back to their parents during the closing hymn. Children must be checked in at the Welcome Table before worship to receive a temperature check and a name tag.

Preschool Story Time | Tuesdays, 10:30 a.m., at the tent adjacent to the Upper Parking Lot. 

Bible Studies for 4th and 5th Graders | Wednesdays, 6:30-8:00 p.m., outside. Drop-off for boys, Upper Parking Lot; girls, nearby host home. Email for location.

Family “Advent in a Box” Drive-Through Event  | Saturday, December 5, 10:00–11:00 a.m. Register online to pick up a Christmas family devotional and Advent calendar, an Advent wreath (available with advance purchase), plus Christmas crafts, prepackaged cookies, and hot chocolate! The box is free. However, if you wish to purchase an Advent wreath, there is a $35.00 fee. The drive-through will be held under the Ridgefield Road Portico. Registration ends December 3.

Christmas Outreach

This year our Christmas outreach is to support ministry partners who reach out to people in the name of Christ.  For information or to request a child’s wish list please contact Pamela.

Drive-Through Collection and Food Drive

Wednesday, December 9,  3:00-5:00 p.m., and Saturday, December 12, 1:00-4:00 p.m. The neighborhood and church are invited to contribute to a food, clothing (especially socks), and household items collection by Fourth Presbyterian Church Youth, in partnership with our Missions Local Outreach, which is distributing items to our ministry partners and neighbors in the DMV. GriefShare Holiday Session

Please come to “Surviving the Holidays”, a stand-alone session of GriefShare, December 17, via Zoom. Register at griefshare.org.

Romanian Christian Enterprises (RCE)

Give a gift that changes lives!  Romanian Christian Enterprises will deliver your gift of a little fat pig, baby lamb, or load of firewood for a poor family or “Grant a Wish” gift for abandoned children at Darius House.  Go to rcenterprises.org for more details, and thank you for Making Mercy Happen for people in need this Christmas.


SERVE Opportunities at Clark Inn

Serve a Sunday “Fellowship Dinner”, December 13 or January 10, for 24 women and children at Clark Inn (Samaritan Inns’ Women with Children Program). Provide a main course, side dish, dessert, or beverage and deliver to a Bethesda home.

Moms’ Support Group | December 11, 7:30-9:00 p.m., via Zoom. We will continue our study of Unbroken Faith: Spiritual Recovery for the Special Needs Parent, chapter 24.

Dads’ Support Group | December 5, 7:00-9:00 p.m., via Zoom. We will continue our study of Common Man, Extraordinary Call, chapter 7.

Women’s Ministry

Christmas Celebration | In lieu of our annual Christmas luncheon and dessert, we will be celebrating Christmas with music, Scripture, and reflections virtually, on demand, December 5-11. It will last less than an hour and be a special time to encourage women to gather virtually and watch as they celebrate the birth of our Savior.  

 Women’s Bible Studies | Zoom Bible Study on Galatians using Galatians: The Gospel of Free Grace, by Jon Nielson and Philip Ryken, begins the week of January 5. If you aren’t presently in a group and would like to join us or need to change to another time, please email Jean.  Currently groups meet Monday evenings at 7:30 p.m., Wednesday mornings at 10:00 or 11:00 a.m., and Thursdays at 1:30 or 8:00 p.m.
