Urban Ministries is an outreach activity of Fourth Church with a focus on Washington, D.C. Our aim is, through God’s grace, to transform individuals and communities through a ministry of the Word and personal service. Contact Pamela Roylance, Local Missions Coordinator, for answers to any questions you may have.
Star of Bethlehem Church at 14th Street and Colorado Avenue, NW
Partnering with Fourth since 1991, Star of Bethlehem reaches those in the inner city with the Gospel as well as food. Volunteers are always needed for serving meals and sharing fellowship over the teaching of God’s Word.
Central Union Mission at 65 Massachusetts Ave, NW (Gales School)
Since 1884, Central Union Mission has served neighbors, developed disciples, and changed lives in D.C. Much more than an overnight shelter for men, the Mission offers outreach ministries including food and clothing distribution, Hispanic family ministry, Camp Bennett for children, senior outreach, and their 18-month Spiritual Transformation Program.
Faith in Action
Led by Pamela Roylance, this inner-city outreach ministry of our church has three major outreaches: a monthly collection of food, clothing, and household items, a Christmas gift program, and an Easter Celebration. These are connected with Star of Bethlehem Church and Central Union Mission. Read more here.
Samaritan Inns’ mission is to provide structured housing and recovery services in an environment of support and accountability that will give homeless and addicted men and women the opportunity to rebuild their lives. Volunteer opportunities include a Dinner Fellowship on weekends with residents in the Intensive Recovery
For more information on these partners including volunteer opportunities, email Charlotte FitzGerald in the Missions/Outreach office.
On the second Sunday of each month in the upper parking lot, our Faith in Action volunteers receive contributions of clothing and other items needed by people in the city. Items are distributed through ministry partners.
Food for the Needy
On the second and fourth Tuesdays of each month, members of Fourth work alongside members of Star of Bethlehem Church serving hot meals to needy individuals. Star is located at 5331 Colorado Avenue, NW. Participants also receive clothing and a message from God’s Word.
Rockville Pregnancy Clinic
Fourth supports the Rockville Pregnancy Clinic through our Baby Bottle Campaign. Periodically bottles are available for our congregation to take and fill with donations that are sent back to the Center to further their work. The Rockville Pregnancy Clinic is a faith-based, non-profit, charitable medical clinic and pregnancy counseling center dealing with women who are facing an unplanned pregnancy.
